4 June : Quixant launches "Comma 6a" platform for the Italian Market.
Quixant Ltd today announced the launch of its Comma 6a (AAMS) compliant gaming platform for the Italian market, the QXi-106.
The QXi-106 harnesses the power of AMD’s 64-bit CPUs together with advanced ATI 3D dual screen graphics technology to deliver a quantum shift in gaming experience. All Comma 6a requirements are handled on-board, making the QXi-106 compact and very cost effective.
Only the standard JAMMA power is required and speakers can be driven directly, so no external ATX power supply or amplifier is required as in other PC-based solutions, further saving cost. External mass storage is also not required, as up to 8GBytes of fast SATA Flash is integrated on the motherboard.
The QXi-106 comes in a case measuring just 190x190x40mm. Connections are simple, with VGA, dual DVI and AAMS port connectors on one side and the 28-way JAMMA and 12/24V cctalk hopper connectors on the other.
Commenting on the launch Nick Jarmany, MD of Quixant, said "The Italian market is now demanding a 'casino quality' game experience from its AWP machines, requiring a shift away from proprietary hardware to PC technology, particularly for graphics performance. The QXi-106 leverages Quixant's world leading casino platform technology together with AMD/ATI graphics and applies it to Italian AWP machines for the first time.
Our approach to the Comma 6a market has been to design everything ourselves rather than use a crude mix of boards from other manufacturers. This brings the benefits of a product designed from the ground up to meet the special needs of the Italian market. Having our own engineering office in Italy, along with our own manufacturing operation in Taiwan, is a major advantage."
"The first public outing for the QXi-106 will be the Enada Roma show in October where it can be seen running Comma 6a games, but development kits will be available this summer. So, companies interested in taking a slice of the Italian market should contact Quixant now for more information." said Gary Mullins, Sales Director for Quixant.
